Margaret Bernice Simmons, 84, of Angleton passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in Angleton. She was born April 13, 1930 in Waco. Bernice was a member of First Baptist Church in Angleton, where she worked in the nursery and with the toddlers for over 25 years. She retired from Angleton ISD in 2000 with over 40 years of service. Bernice was preceded in death by a her sister, Edith Thomas and is survived by her husband, Halbert "Buddy" Simmons of Angleton, son, Johnny Simmons and wife, Diane of Lake Jackson, daughter, Cindy Powell and husband, Eddie of Bandera, sister Ruby Lyman of Waco, grandchildren, Lori Simmons of Lake Jackson, Joshua Powell and wife, Amber of Richwood, Jerud Powell of Angleton, great grandchildren, Caleb Powell, Jansen Powell and Nathyn Powell. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 5, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Angleton at 2:00pm with Dr. Rodney Bowman officiating.
