Margaret K. Norman passed away peacefully in Houston on Friday, August 18th.
Margaret grew up in Hempstead. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1960 with a degree in music. Across her career, she taught piano and elementary school music, but her specialty was teaching harp. Her studio thrived, producing several all-state harpists. Some of whom began their own careers in music.
Margaret was married to Donald Norman for 52 years until his death in 2018. They had three sons, Don (North Carolina), Jim (Austin) and Jerry (now deceased), and three grandchildren, Ryan, Becca, and Lydia.
Margaret lived her entire life in Texas. She spent many of her last years in service to The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She enjoyed the company of Lucy, her precious Yorkie. She was an avid Houston Astros fan.
A vigil will take place at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton on Friday, August 25 at 6pm, followed by visitation from 7pm to 8pm. Margaret's funeral mass will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton at 11am on Saturday, August 26 at 11am. A graveside ceremony is scheduled for 3pm at Hempstead Cemetery.
