Maria DeJesus (Zepeda) Gutierrez, 92, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, at 6:02 pm in Angleton Texas. She spent the days before her death surrounded by family.

Maria was born on June 15, 1932, in Jerez, Zacatecas Mexico, to Asuncion and Juanita Zepeda. She was preceded in death by her husband Marcelino Gutierrez, her daughter Delia Gutierrez, her son Marcos Gutierrez, and her great-grandchild Rudy Sandoval. She is survived by her 12 children: Raul Gutierrez (Josie Gutierrez), Mario Gutierrez (Lourdes Gutierrez), Everardo Gutierrez (Eva Gutierrez), Rogelio Gutierrez (Ofelia Gutierrez), Eligio Gutierrez (Zenaida Gutierrez), Rosa Gutierrez (Bartolo Guillen), Linda Sanchez, Marcelino Gutierrez, Isidoro Gutierrez (Mari Gutierrez), Jesus Gutierrez (Irma Gutierrez), Maria “Nena” Romero (Juan Romero), and Guillermo Gutierrez (Armida “Miry” Gutierrez). She had 40 Grandchildren and 55 Great-Grandchildren.

Maria loved the Lord and couldn’t get her day started without praying and ending her day in prayer. She was known for always being well-dressed, she was known as a “diva”. She loved to crotchet and read her Bible each day. For her, every day was Christmas. She was Godly woman who deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

To many, she was known as Grandma or Abuela, but to a select few of her grandkids, she was always called Ama. She will be greatly missed by those who loved and knew her. The family wants to give special thanks to Dr. Amin and his staff for the care they gave Maria for over 20 years.
