Mario Cosme Calderon

June 11, 1949 — October 19, 2023

Mario Cosme Calderon of Angleton was a beloved husband, father, brother, and PoPo. He was a respected member of the community, passed on October 19, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born on June 11, 1949 in Angleton, TX. Mario left a lasting impression on the lives he touched.


Mario was a proud individual, known for his strong work ethic and unwavering dedication. After completing his high school education, Mario pursued a career in the Army. He served during the Vietnam War. He later pursued a career in the chemical industry, where he found his passion as a Warehouse Foreman at the INEOS Chemical Plant. His commitment and expertise in his role earned him the respect of his colleagues and supervisors.


Beyond his professional achievements, Mario’s biggest source of pride was his family. He shared a deep and loving bond with his wife, (HS sweetheart) Macaria (TJ) Calderon who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together they raised three wonderful daughters, Shana Calderon Frank (Clint), Crystal Calderon-Miller (Jeremy) and Terri Calderon Guzman (Albertano).  Mario’s love and support for his family knew no bounds, and his children will forever cherish the memories they made together. Also, surviving Mario are his 9 grandkids, Tori Breazeale (Josh), Daniel Sosa (Kristy), Mario Sosa, Joseph Miller, Yliana Guzman, Albertano Jr Guzman, and Caitlyn Miller. 2 great grandkids Zoey Breazeale and Josh Breazeale Jr. 3 brothers Carlos “Curly” Calderon, Geronimo Calderon (Janet), John Calderon (Leticia) and 3 sisters Hortencia “Ms. Shorty” Yglesias (Robert), Gracie Calderon Garcia, Diana Calderon-Salazar (Ramiro) and Mother in-law Teresa Jasso, Sister in-law Margaret Yanez (Mack) 5 brother-in laws Victor Jasso Jr (Gloria), John Jasso (Angeles), Joe Jasso (Mary), Jay Jasso (Sharon), and Leo Jasso (Joann) and 27 nieces and nephews.


Awaiting Mario’s arrival in heaven were his parents: Leon and Anna (Cosme) Calderon.


In his free time, Mario played baseball with the Amateur League. He played for the Angleton Aces, Angleton Indians, and Angleton Kings. You could find him playing basketball at St. Thomas Catholic Church on his days off. He loved coaching his grandkids softball and baseball teams. He also loved to detail his truck, his daughter's vehicles and cruise the barrio. Mario was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, Texas, where he and Macaria raised their family.


Reflecting on his achievements and the impact he made within the community for his love of baseball and basketball. We celebrate Mario’s life and fondly remember the time we had with him. His spirit will continue to shine on forever etched in our hearts and memories.


Funeral services and ceremonies to honor Mario Calderon will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 10:00am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Chruch in Angleton, Texas. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and join us in remembering this remarkable individual with a Rosary celebrated in Mario’s memory on Tuesday evening, October 24, 2023 at Palms Funeral Home beginning at 7:00pm following visitation that will begin at 5:00pm, prior to the rosary. Following the services, Mario will be cremated.
