Martha Ann Matchett

Martha Ann Birdwell Matchett, 72, of Angleton, Texas returned to her Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. Martha was born to Floyd and Lillie Mae Birdwell on November 20, 1945 in Crockett, Texas. Martha married Glenn Matchett in Lovelady, Texas on September 28, 1963, at Antioch Baptist Church. Martha was a long time resident of Angleton where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Houston County after graduating from Crockett High School. She worked for 27 years at the Sears Parts and Service in Lake Jackson, Texas before retiring to enjoy spending time with grandchildren and her favorite pastime, quilting. Martha was a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister and daughter. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Glenn Matchett of Angleton, sons Michael (Marci) Matchett and Mark (Karen) Matchett of Angleton, grandchildren Alexander & Anabel Matchett and Kyle, Ryan & Logan Matchett, all of Angleton, brother Jimmy Birdwell of Palestine, brother in law Kenneth Cline of Grangerland, sister in law Kathy Birdwell of New Braunfels, sister in law Joann Acres & husband Bill of Onalaska; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, brother Delbert Birdwell, sister Earline Cline, and brother Eddy Birdwell. Visitation services will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas on Saturday, January 27, 2018, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, with funeral services starting at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Crockett, Texas on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
