Mary Ann (Thomas) Thomas, 80, a long-time Angleton resident, passed away on October 10, 2014, at Country Village in Angleton, Texas. She was born in Madisonville, Texas on November 26, 1933, to Mary Elizabeth Young Thomas and E.P. (Buck) Thomas. Her early years were spent in Madisonville, Texas. Mary Ann graduated from Madisonville High School and The University of Texas at Austin. She taught elementary school in Houston, Texas before going to work for Humble Oil Company. After marrying Wiley Thomas she stayed home to raise two children and contribute to the Angleton community through various civic organizations. Mary Ann was an active member of the Texas Exes, Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, Angleton Study Forum, Brazoria County Museum, Republican Party of Texas, Daughters of the King, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Friendship was an important aspect of Mary Ann's life and she will be remembered most for those life-long friendships. She instigated and organized birthday lunches, bridge clubs and evening dinners to connect with her friends on a regular basis. Her reach in the community was based on her desire to spend time with people and hear their stories and news. The Madisonville Mushroom festival allowed her to stay in touch with her childhood friends in Madisonville. Mary Ann Thomas is survived by her two children: son John Wiley Thomas and wife Robin of Austin; daughter Rebecca Thomas Esposito and husband Danny of Madisonville; and four grandsons Andrew Wiley Thomas, Sam Finley Thomas, Brian Hayes Esposito and Daniel Garrett Esposito. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16 at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Angleton, Texas. She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Angleton or the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville, Texas.
