Mary Ethel Berry "Memaw", 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 29th, 2015 at Houston Hospice after a brief illness. She was born May 7th, 1937 to W. L. and Anna Lee George in Beaumont, Texas. She married James Walker Berry on July 30th, 1955 in Daisetta, Texas. She and James moved to Angleton in December of 1976. Mary knew many people in Angleton from her volunteer work as First Vice President of the Angleton-Danbury Hospital Auxiliary. Her wonderful cooking always brought loved ones to the dinner table. An excellent seamstress, she loved making quilts and crocheting for her friends and family, as well as making various crafts to sell at many local craft shows. Her ultimate passion was providing for her family and creating a warm and loving home for them. She was instrumental in the upbringing of her three grandsons. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James W. Berry of Angleton, daughter Alicia Deskins of Angleton, Grandsons Shane Hoffmeyer of St. Marys, Georgia, Daniel Deskins and wife Melissa of Galveston, Texas, Patrick Deskins of Angleton, Great-Granddaughters Virginia Rae and Olivia Mae Hoffmeyer of Greenville, South Carolina, brother Milton L. George and Linda Lonsberry of Longview, Texas, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service in her honor will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, September 3rd, 2015 at Palms Funeral Home - 2300 Mulberry Dr., Angleton, TX 77515 with Pastor Rodney Bowman officiating.
