Mary Harlan Eaves

October 22, 1955 — February 10, 2014

Mary Eaves, 58 of Clute went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 10, 2014. She was born to Billy and Alice Harlan on October 22, 1955 in Freeport, Texas. Mary was a lifetime resident of Clute and was one of the first female operators to work for DOW Chemical Company in this area. A career which spanned over 30 years. She was also a longtime and active member of Local #564. Mary's memory will be cherished by her parents, Billy Ed and Alice Sue Harlan of Clute, her children, Jamie Eaves and husband Steven Wade of Clute, Erin Dayton and husband Nicholas of Clute; Billy Harlan and wife Sonja of Clute, and brother Robert Harlan of Clute. She also leaves behind nieces, Brittany Harlan of Lake Jackson and Natalie Harlan of Austin, Stephanie Croft and husband, Sean of Sugarland and their children, Kyle and Mattie, and her nephew Steven Harlan and wife, Dallas of Lake Jackson and their children, Brady and Hudson. She is survived by numerous cousins and friends. Mary was a daughter, single mother, sister, and friend with strength and compassion she built dreams and opened doors for so many people. Her radiant smile and laughter made the world a brighter place, even when everything seemed dark. Her friends knew her as "MAW," because of her attitude and willingness to stand up for what she believed to be right and the way she protected those she loved. Mary made many people laugh with her timeless pranks and un-daunting wit. We hope that those who knew her will keep her memory and smile forever in their hearts.
