Mary Helen Adams, 81 of Rosharon, Texas died Friday, October 13, 2017, at her home. She was born in Hope, Arkansas on November 6, 1935 to John and Etta Mae Wootton. The Wootton family moved to Rosharon in 1949 and Helen proudly graduated from Angleton High School in 1954. In 1954 Helen married Thomas Charles Adams also of Rosharon, Texas. Charles and Mr. Wootton owned and operated a gas station on SH 288 in Rosharon and Helen kept the books. She later earned her cosmetology license and opened a beauty shop in Rosharon. In 1974 she was hired by the United States Postal Service and worked for 21 years at the Rosharon Post Office. Helen was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rosharon. There she served many years as a Sunday school teacher, working both with the youth and adults of the church. In addition, she served on serval committees through the years with her church family. She also took great pride in the DPSOA and served several terms as DPSOA Auxiliary President and a Regional Representative. The DPSOAA is an organization comprised of spouses of DPS officers. The auxiliary is instrumental in supporting families of officers and citizens of the State of Texas and promoting social, cultural and educational activities that are in the best interest of all members of the DPSOA and Auxiliary. Helen was predeceased by her parents and son, Steven Wayne Adams. Helen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles Adams, son Barry Adams and wife Missy Adams of Angleton. Grandchildren Adam Adams of Poolville, John Henry Adams and Cassie Mantor of Comfort, Rebecca Adams of Angleton and one great- grandchild, Tristan Adams of Poolville, Texas. Palms Funeral Home in Angleton will host the visitations. Visitation for family will begin at 4 p.m. and friends are welcomed from 5-8 on Monday, October 16, 2017. Services for Mrs. Adams will be held at the First Baptist Church of Rosharon, Texas on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at he the Angleton Cemetery located on Shanks Road, Angleton, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Palms Funeral Home Angleton, Texas (979)-849-4343.
