Heaven unexpectedly gained another angel on Sunday, March 31, 2019. Mary W. Stewart, of West Columbia passed away. She loved every moment of her 92 years on this earth. She was born to Thomas and Jessie Williams on January 21, 1927 in Helmic, Texas. Public Visitation will be held at Palms Funeral Home Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 1-2:00 pm with Graveside Services to be held at Danbury Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Mary and her husband Curtis raised 3 children in Danbury, Tx. They both were very involved in the Baptist Church of Danbury. Mary was involved with the GAs in church. They bought C&D Grocery in Angleton in the late 60s and their business was a predominate place of visit. After retiring, they moved to Gilmer, Tx. for numerous years. They both returned to their home town Groveton, were she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She worked at the local Senior Citizen Center. She assisted with Meals on Wheels for many years. She loved to work in the garden and paint. She lived her later years in West Columbia, Tx. and was involved in the First Baptist Church of Brazoria. She also loved spending time with her friends and family. Mary loved watching her great grandson play baseball. She really loved spending time with her precious cat Norma Jean. She is preceded in death by her husband Curtis Stewart, parents, daughter Betty Pruitt, son-in-law Ray Pruitt, grandsons Blaine Stewart & Ethan Pruitt, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Mary is survived by her children Steve Stewart (Lisa), Rose Pelt (Danny), siblings Rachel Stevenson, Marvin Clinton Williams (Lynn Osler), Grandchildren; Travis Pruitt (Trisha), Coby Pruitt (Misty), Erica Maddox (Shane), Nathan Vackar (Kim) and Courtney Vackar (Fiance Chris Scott), Great grandchildren; Grant Beaver, Emmalynn Pruitt, Reigan Pruitt, Brynn Tavarez, Dustin Maddox (Halie), Ty Stewart, Garrett Stewart and Ethan Stewart, Great-great granddaughter Ella, as well as numerous other family and friends.
