Matilda Salinas

March 14, 1930 — July 17, 2023

Our dear mother Matilda Salinas 93, of Angleton, Tx went to be with our lord on July 17, 2023, with loved ones at her side. She was born on March 14, 1930, to Eugenio Livas and Juanita Garibay Livas in Alamo, Tx. She was a great mother who was always there when needed. She had many friends and never met a stranger. She will be remembered as placing family first, being a friend to all and her giving nature.

Prior to the advancement of her illness, Matilda regularly attended St. Thomas Catholic Church and later St. Basil's/Most Holy Trinity.

She enjoyed family more than anything else, especially during the holidays, and large gatherings at her house were the norm. She was an avid bargain hunter and visited garage sales weekly. Ninety percent of the things she purchased were for a son or daughter, family out of town, even a neighbor, or their children.

Matilda was a devoted mother to Elizabeth Delarosa (Jesse), Mary Griffith, Frances Mendieta, Norma, Cynthia, and Martin Salinas.

She met the love of her life, Francisco (Frank) Salinas, they married and remained so until his death in 1972. She was preceded in death by her parents, her 5 siblings: Santos Livas, Juan Livas, Nato Livas, Tito Livas, and Paula Salazar. Also, her son Frank Salinas and her son-in-law Thomas Mendieta, grandson Thomas Trevino Mendieta III, and great granddaughter Brianna Ramos.

Mom had dear friends that preceded her in death: Lena Flores, Anita Garcia, Chita Arias, and Delfina Garcia. One or more came to mom's each morning for coffee, snacks, and gossip.

She is survived by her 6 children, 19 grandchildren: Brian Mendieta (Ashley), Thomas Mendieta, Amanda Mendieta, Amelda Salinas (Mark), Tony Davila Jr. (Jennifer), Jose Salazar, Christopher Salazar (Lexy), Nicole Ricarte (Damian), Zachaury Salinas, Julie Hinojosa (Joe), Tania Trevino, Natalie Trevino, Jennifer Salinas, April Jasso (Anthony), Ashley Burton (Billy), Paul Salinas, Claudia Medina (Arturo), Michelle Delarosa, Alyssa Delarosa. She also had 37 great grandchildren: Catalina and Athena Ricarte, Ryland and Averie Trejo, Eva and Carly Bernal, Madilyn, Meilah and Brian Mendieta Jr., Easton and Paisley Mendieta, Elizabeth, Jolie and Mark Salinas, Gabriel Ramos, Urijah and Millie Salinas, Dominic Pugh, Riley and Zoey Davila, Madison and Jordon Green, Kayleigha Busch, Carter and Lainey Burton, Elijah Sanchez, Darren, Amiya, and Shawn Jasso, Mia Martinez, Arriya and Micaleia Cordova, Ameli and Avery Rem. Jaysen, Braylen, and Joe Arturo Medina Jr. Great-great-granddaughter Everleigh Savage. Also, many nieces and nephews and special friends; the Garcia family.

Services are as follows: Visitation Thursday July 27 5 - 7 pm with rosary at 6 pm.

at Palms Funeral Home 2300 E. Mulberry St. Angleton, TX.

Mass is Friday, July 28 at 10 am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church 1713 N Tinsley St. Angleton, TX.
