Melvin James Jarrard

Melvin James Jarrard joined his Lord Jesus on September 27, 2016. He was born November 15, 1961 in Houston Texas to James M. & Alberta Jarrard. Because he had Downes Syndrome, the doctors told them to have him immediately institutionalize. They refused & took him home. His parents advocated for him & set no limitations for him. As a result, he became an amazing man. He surpassed any expectations. Mel was more than a son, brother, uncle or friend. He was special to so many that knew him. He influenced & enriched the lives of a who knew him. His, humor, innocence and grace touched us all. He will always remain in our thoughts and hearts. He was quite the character and way smarter than anyone should be. He will be remembered for his "Melisms". Words & phases we all picked up from him. Mel loved everyone and had an unshakeable belief in Jesus as his Lord & Savior. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Roy & Edith Shuman & Melvin & Mary Jarrard and sister Margaret Farmer & brother-in-law George Barnett. He is survived by his sister Della Barnett, niece Angela Lloyd & husband Daniel & their children Mia & Zander. Niece Melissa Farmer. Nephew Kels Farmer & wife Savannah and their son Jonah. And adopted niece Jamie Miller. As well as a host family & friends. A special thanks to Charles Flansburg, his longtime buddy and care giver during his illness. Services Sunday, October 2, 2016.
