Merle Ida Jones

September 19, 1937 — March 5, 2019

Merle Ida Overgoner Jones of Lake Jackson, Texas passed away on March 5, 2019 at age 81. Born to Herbert and Lorene Overgoner in Hallettsville, Texas on September 19, 1937, Merle came into this world as she left-enveloped in the love of family. Merle became "Mom" in 1958 at age 20, as she and her husband and high-school sweetheart, Ralph, had four precious children-Joni, Sheryl, Terry, and John-in five quick years. In 1984, "Mom" became "Nini," named by her first grandbaby, Casey. Merle/Mom/Nini was the center of her family's lucky universe and happiest when everyone was together. She loved spending time at her grandpa's General Store, taking care of her little brother, Milton, eating and visiting with her parents and family, playing tennis and the drums, and going to dinner, movies, and camping with Ralph. She gave her babies, grandbabies, and great-grandbabies her unconditional love and undivided attention, and she was kind and hospitable to everyone she met. Merle will be lovingly remembered every day by her husband of 62 years, Ralph; her children, Joni (Tex), Sheryl, Terry (Terry), and John (Shannon); her grandchildren, Casey, Trace, Chelsea, Caden, and Chazley; her great-grandchildren, Audrey, Dylan, and Saylor; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She has gone to meet her parents, Herbert and Lorene, and her brother, Milton, in Heaven. A memorial service and fellowship will be held Thursday, March 14th at 3:00 PM at St. Mark Lutheran Church at 501 Willow Drive in Lake Jackson. Service Details. Service When Thursday, March 14th, 2019 3:00pm Location St. Mark Lutheran Church Address 501 Willow Dr LAKE JACKSON, TX 77566
