Michael Allen Catero

Michael Allen Catero, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, in Lake Jackon, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on October 18, 1942, in Clarksdale, Arizona, Michael was the son of Domenick Catero and Iris Gilchrist.


Michael had an adventurous spirit and a zest for life. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love for a good cigar and the occasional game of chance brought excitement to his days. Michael also treasured his travels and cherished his annual trip to Leakey, Texas with his buddies, creating memories that will be forever cherished.


Raised in Arizona, and relocating to Texas, Michael received his education at Mineral Wells High School. With a desire to serve his country, he pursued his studies at Texas Tech, where he focused on engineering. Michael showed great dedication and served in the Air Force through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).


After his military service, Michael carved out a successful career as a respected home builder in the construction industry. His work was a true reflection of his craftsmanship and attention to detail.


Faith played a significant role in Michael's life. He was a devout Catholic who found solace and strength in his spiritual beliefs. His commitment to his faith guided his actions and provided him with comfort throughout his life journey.


Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Domenick Catero and Iris Gilchrist, his brother, Robert Reynolds, and his sister, Gail Elizabeth Ewing. He leaves behind a legacy of love and wonderful memories, as well as a host of loved ones who will forever cherish him.


Michael will be fondly remembered by his beloved wife, Katherine Johnson Catero, whom he had the joy of marrying on October 19, 2012, in Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his loving children: Sam Milligan (Kathy), Ed Gaspard (Jennifer), Tonya Marusek (Tim), Denise Garcia (Richard), and Tina Marquardt (Rene). His siblings, Dean Reynolds, Richard Catero, Troy Reynolds, Ilya Reynolds, and Sheila Catero Fernandez held a special place in Michael's heart. He was also blessed with the joy of being a grandfather to Jayden Garcia, Dalton Yarborough, Kyle Milligan (Sheree), Krystal Freelen, and great-grandchildren Maya and Hannah.
