Michael Jay Cicero

May 4, 1955 — October 9, 2013

The Journey to the Rodeo in the Sky On May 4, 1955 in Mesa, Arizona, Betty Jean and Salvatore Cicero received a precious blessing of a baby boy they named Michael Jay. He grew up on and near the military base there until moving to Clovis, New Mexico. Mike, as he was affectionately called, moved to Rosharon, Texas in 1976 to work for Ramsey Prison Farm. He met and later married Lynn Turner on April 2, 1977 and to this union two children, Randi Jaylyn and Jay Wesley, were born. This family thrived in the Worrell Loop (CR 32) area and remained a loving unit for 23 years. This earthly journey took him on a wayward path away from this unit. In 1999, Mike left Texas and headed to Arkansas where he remarried. By the end of 2009, he moved back to Texas where he was welcomed with open arms and reunited with his children to form an even closer bond. He was a devoted family man who genuinely loved his children and grandchildren. He spent time with his son and daughter (a daddy's girl) all throughout the week, every week. He was in route to visit his daughter at the time of the accident. Mike was extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments and keen sense of business. He kept a positive and happy outlook on life. At any gathering, he was the storyteller. He always had a story to tell whether it was true or not. For Mike, eating was an art; he loved to eat! Cold pizza and ice cream (that he referred to as QRSW) were his favorite foods. He was passionate about his adventures encountered in his 18 wheeler (Rita), now left in his son's care, his motorcycle (Iron Horse), and raising horses. His favorite horse "Jose", born on his birthday May 4 in 1983, died early in 2011. Mike knew the Lord, and was ready to be with Him at any time. He knew his journey was nearing an end and started getting his affairs in order. He expressed his wishes to his daughter, and for at least a month he emphasized his desire for his family and friends to remain upbeat and not be saddened when it was his time to leave this earth. He cherished his daily walk with the Lord. Mike took time daily to read his scriptures and reaffirm his relationship with his heavenly Father. Michael Jay was preceded in death by his father, who died when Mike was only three years old. Left to celebrate his loving memories include his mother, Betty Jean Cicero of New Mexico; sister, Rhonda Lyn Hicks (David) of Prescott, Arizona; daughter, Randi Jaylyn Key (Faron) of Angleton; son, Jay Wesley Cicero (special friend Brooke Archie) of Angleton; nephew, Kyle and niece Katie; grandchildren, Kaden and Korgan Key both of Angleton; Payne Fuselier, Jay Minter, and a host of other relatives and friends. A precious life is gone on and will be forever loved, remembered, and greatly missed by family and friends. This earthly journey has ended only to be replaced by his journey to the great round up in the sky where he can reunite with his father and beloved horse "Jose". There he can rest his boots, white T shirt, and shorts and exchange them for a new garment issued by His Heavenly Father for that glorious rodeo in the sky.
