Mildred Marie 'Millie' Wafer

June 5, 1933 — March 29, 2018

Mildred Marie Phillips Wafer Went home to the Lord in the early hours of March 29, 2018 Mildred was born on June 5, 1933 to Elsie Marie Borskey Phillips and Bert Gray Phillips in Angleton. She married her high school sweetheart, Arnold Wafer, in 1953 after attending Alvin Junior College. She is survived by her younger sister, Elsie Faye Phillips Green (Vernon), her devoted husband of sixty-five years, Arnold, and their two daughters Lisa Marie Wafer Urbani (Peter) of Magnolia, Texas , and Gina Lynn Wafer Cash (Ralph) of Benton Arkansas, and their children Bradley Arnold Cash (Brittany) and Melody Faith Cash, both of Nashville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Bert Gray Phillips, Jr. (Sharron) and George Wayne Phillips. Mildred, whom her family and friends knew as Millie, was a born-again Christian from her childhood. She was a great family prayer warrior whose day couldn't start until she prayed, by name, for every member of the ever-widening family. Her daily devotion to the Lord also included her time with Him in the Word. Only eternity will reveal the extent and effectiveness of her prayers. Her extended families are still walking in the affects of the prayers of Charles Fox and Hulda Faith Gray Phillips, her paternal grandparents. Recently the Lord spoke to her this verse from Isaiah 43:19 "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." She was greatly encouraged by it, and in the way it came. There were many other times He would speak to her heart to give her peace in trying situations. Although she never thought of having a real ministry she had a ministry that few could appreciate. Like her grandparents, the effectiveness of her prayers may be more far reaching than can be known now. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday April 2, 2018 in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel.
