The Lord had a different plan for Nancy Janette Allen than we did when He gave her His Heavenly wings. She departed this earthly life in her hometown of Angleton, Texas, on July 12, 2021. She was born on Monday, March 20, 1972. Eleven days later, God blessed her with Marvin and Janet Koenig, young parents who wanted to expand their new family. When they got the call at their home in Killeen that she had arrived, Marvin and family drove to Lutheran Social Services in Austin to receive her and bring her home. She had a brother, Andy, and 10 months later she had a new sister, Yvonne. Her dad was a young Lutheran Pastor, and when Nancy was 4 years old moved the family to Angleton. In her 7th grade year, they moved to Midland, Texas, and then to Bulverde, Texas when she was a senior in high school. Nancy made many friends for life in every place she lived. She graduated from Smithson Valley High School and went to Texas Lutheran College where she earned a degree in education. She started her student teaching and was a tennis coach in Bay City. She taught in Danbury. She found her career home back in Angleton, where she had just retired this year. During her time there, she earned her master's and her Doctor of Education, while married, teaching full time, and raising 3 children with her husband, Wade. Nancy met Wade Allen while at Texas Lutheran College. They were married in 1995 by Nancy's dad and went on to have three children, Grace, Will, and Emma. Her children made her light shine brightest. She was always proud of them, encouraged and supported them, and dedicated herself to their best interest. She adored them and who they have grown to be, and she glowed when with them or talking about them. Through her years as a teacher, assistant principal, and then back to teaching, Nancy had a positive impact on many high school students. She took personal interest in them and contributed to their success in school and in life. Of all the degrees and accolades she earned, her most cherished was being voted teacher of the year by the students at Angleton High School. Nancy loved music her entire life and was an accomplished pianist. She played piano and organ for her home church, St. John Lutheran in Angleton. She was an instrumental accompanist for band students' solo and ensemble contests. Nancy played piano for Brazosport Center Stages' production of "Shrek" and was a percussionist on keyboards for their production of "Mary Poppins." She played piano for and was an original member of St. John Lutheran Church's "Third Stream" worship band. She enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music including Broadway, The Beatles, Brad Paisley, Harry Connick Jr, Disney, Michael Bubl, Billie Joel, and the Foo Fighters. An avid runner, Nancy participated and earned many ribbons in area running events. She loved to cook, collect cookbooks, watch cooking shows, and try new recipes, always happy to feed and entertain family and friends. Nancy loved motorcycling with her fianc, Thomas, and was head maiden for the IOMC South Houston Charter. She loved learning - no matter what it was. She made friends easily and always had room in her heart for more of them. She was strong-willed and soft-hearted, courageous, and tender. Nancy was a person who pursued what she wanted and always served others. She was a strong Christian, happy with her life, and her smile was contagious. Nancy is remembered and loved by her three children, Grace Allen of San Antonio, Will Allen of College Station, and Emma Allen of Angleton; her mother, Janet Koenig of Seguin; her best friend and sister, Yvonne Carlton and husband Kevin of Hutto; her brother Andy Koenig and wife Kim of Seguin; her fianc, Thomas Harris of Angleton; co-Musketeers, Tessa Williams of Angleton, and Deanna Fuchs of West Columbia; close friend Yvette Skeen of Alvin; several nieces and nephews; sisters of Kappa Pi Gamma; students and co-workers; and beloved family dog, Jack.
