Olga Alaniz Garcia

October 6, 1932 — June 6, 2012

Olga Alaniz Garcia, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Olga was born October 6, 1932 in Mission, Texas where she was raised in a large loving family on a family owned farm. Being one of the oldest siblings, Olga developed at a very young age a nurturing and compassionate way about her. Venturing into the city in the summer of 1958, Olga, won the heart of United States Army Specialist Ernesto Garcia. Their new life together eventually brought her to Angleton in the 1960's. Olga always carried herself with a proper unique grace and elegance, and yet with the utmost compassion and concern for others; humbly putting others needs before her own. Olga was a faith-filled reverent servant of God. Not only was she a great wife, mother and grandmother, she selflessly compassionately cared for a special family member we call "Tere". Her passions included attending to her beautiful plants and flowers. She enjoyed her quiet time reading, but she especially treasured the time spent working beside life long friends, volunteering at Parish Social Ministry Resale Shop. Mom's personality and unique sense of compassion blessed her with many friendships from the young to the elderly. Olga was a life long member of the Catholic community of Angleton, and a proud member of the Guadalupanas Society. She is preceded in death by her husband Ernesto Garcia. She is survived by a daughter Rose Villarreal (Joey) and a son Ernest Garcia Jr. (Debbie). Grandchildren, Jaime Villarreal, Alejandra Villarreal, Angela Oswald (Phillip), Amy Alvarado (Raul), great-grandson, Luke Campbell and numerous other family members. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Palms Funeral Home, with a wake service/rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Jaime Villarreal, Joel Villarreal, Alfonso Rodriguez, Ernesto Rodriguez, Jesse Gonzalez and Otty Medina.
