Oliver Ross 'Ross' Cartwright

Oliver Ross Cartwright Ross Cartwright was born February 25, 1937 to Oliver and Dorothy Perkins Cartwright in Gause, Texas in a log cabin. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Brazoria County. Ross became a member of Calvary Baptist Church on Slaughter Road in Freeport, Texas. He graduated from Angleton High School in 1955, then joined the National Guard Reserves. He married the love of his life, Donna Jo Nelson, in the summer of 1956. They had two children, Chuck and Lisa. Ross was an outgoing, caring person who loved helping others and, truly, would give you the shirt off his back. He started off working in insurance and real estate while taking classes in engineering. He worked as a draftsman throughout the United States and in Central America. He spent many years working at Petro Chem doing piping design in the local chemical plants. In the early 1970's, Ross started Circle C Construction Company. After retiring, Ross never slowed down. He loved meeting friends for coffee at The Point in Angleton. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Cook, and brother-in-law, Gerald Davenport. He is survived by his sister, Alma Davenport of Angleton and brothers, Calvin Cartwright(Jan) of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Rick Bergstresser(Karin) of Guatemala. Also, he survived by his children, Chuck Cartwright(Karen) and Lisa Koonce(Jim); grandchildren, Amanda Tomita(Ryu), Rachael Peveto(Nathan), Michelle Lynn(Jason), Trevor Koonce(Laura), Angie Janak(Rick), Amy Hebert(Smokey), and Cody Mann(Meagan); he is survived by 12 great-grandchildren with one on the way, numerous nieces and nephews and many other family members. Ross will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, TX.
