Opal M. Heffernan Opal M. Heffernan, 89, formerly of Angleton passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in McKinney, TX. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Palms Funeral Home Monday evening from 5-7 with a Rosary to follow at 7 PM. Mrs. Heffernan was born October 10, 1923 in Madison County, Texas to Grover & Leona Smith Dowell. She served as a Yeoman 3rd Class in the US Navy during WWII. In 1946 she married John Norvell Heffernan and they had 5 children. Along with being a homemaker, she was a talented seamstress and china painter. Opal and John were long term members of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Opal was preceded in death by her husband John, her son Shawn and granddaughter Lorin. Survivors include her daughters; Joan Derrick of Friendswood, Sharon Peterson of Danbury, Bridget Amos of Bailey's Prairie and Molly Mitchell of McKinney, 11 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren.
