Pamela Kay Reed

March 6, 1951 — August 20, 2021

Pam Reed (70) of Angleton crossed over to Heaven August 20th, 2021. Pam was diagnosed in June with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Although the outlook was grim, she faced her battle like every other challenge in her life - head on with her family and faith as her armor. Pam was born to Elba and Curtis Hendley on March 6th, 1951 in Port Arthur, Texas. She grew up and graduated high school in West Orange, Texas. She then graduated from Texas Woman's University with her Bachelor of Education and went on to receive her Masters Degree at the University of Houston - Clear Lake. In 1986, she moved to Angleton and continued her career as a teacher. She spent 32 years as a teacher, principal, and administrator. Pam loved life and was always up to try something new. If it looked fun, she wanted to experience it! She was a marathon runner, cyclist, martial arts student, sporting clays shooter, dancer and just an all-around fun-loving spouse, mother, grandmother and friend. She was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside and never met a stranger. A few words those closest to her have used to describe her are: strong, smart, graceful, elegant, optimistic, loving, wise, encouraging, humble, and beautiful. She loved people and always looked forward to meeting new friends. Pam valued all the things that her friends and family brought into her life. Whether it was love, fun, heartache, knowledge, or advice - she was always wiling to share with those she loved. Pam was married to her first husband, John Wood, for over 30 years. In 1979, they brought a daughter, Angela, into this world. Angela was the pride of her life. She and Angela shared a bond that was truly incredible. Maybe it was because they were both only children, but one thing is certain, the love they shared was unmistakable! Their bond was made even stronger when she became "Gram" to her 4 grandchildren. Gram was always game for new adventures with them, like hula-hooping, riding mini-bikes on the driveway, or even playing a game of kickball in the yard. In 2008, Pam married Rick Reed and for the next thirteen years she and Rick loved every day of life together. They were a true partnership and together experienced many wonderful moments, friendships and the joy of grandchildren. Pam accepted Jesus into her heart at a young age and lived her life with a faith that was strong and true. Through it all, she was at peace and not afraid. In her own words, she said "even though I am letting go of your hands, I will be grabbing Jesus' hand on the other side." She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Kenneth. Pam is survived by her husband, Rick Reed; daughter Angela Dees and husband Derrick, grandchildren Chloe Novak, Barrett Novak, Emme Dees, and Fisher Dees; mother-in-law, Peggy Reed, sister-in-law Becky Lloyd and husband Tim; and countless other friends and family. Pallbearers for the service will be Barrett Novak, Fisher Dees, John Spoor, Robert Rice, Danny Dees, Bruce Cranfill, Darrin Dees, Justin Gilbert & Austin Gilbert. Visitation will be held at Community Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 24th from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, with a service on Wednesday, August 25th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Community Baptist Church in Danbury or the Danbury Education Foundation. Service Details.
