Patti Joan Hickerson

September 22, 1953 — February 2, 2017

Patti Wade Hickerson Patti Wade Hickerson began her heavenly reunion with family and friends on February 2, 2017. Her earthly journey began on September 22, 1953, in Angleton, Texas. Her parents, Helen Schnaubelt Wade and T. H. Wade preceded her in joining the Lord. Patti is survived by her former husband, Gary Hickerson, of Angleton and son, Christopher, of Houston. She also leaves behind brother, Tommy Wade (Mary,) of Angleton and sister, Lana Wade Powell (Larry), of Portales, New Mexico. Nephew Zachary Wade (Rebecca) of Cedar Point, Kansas, niece Allison Joan Powell of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and niece Hayley Brooklyn Powell of Portales, New Mexico also cherish Patti's memory. Dear friends Larry Smith and Trudy Lynch of Houston also share the family's sorrow. Patti's partner in good times, cousin Christina Schnaubelt, of Houston, is also missing her. Patti received her Bachelor of Arts from Southwest Texas in 1975, her Master's in Social Work from The University of Houston in 1993, and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas School of Law in 1984. Patti was passionate about her son Christopher. She cherished any time that family and friends gathered to enjoy each other. She served others through Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire, Texas. As a transplant recipient Patti worked with other recipients to adjust to the challenges of transplant life. Patti also encouraged others to be life givers through various transplant and research groups in the Texas Medical Center. She loved the beach and Surfside Beach was like her second home. Patti was always ready to help others and did so at the drop of a hat. Her love of animals extended to rescues and even adoptions. Patti lived life to the fullest! Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Heart Association as well as Heifer International at www.heifer.org/yourgift. Heifer International provides livestock and agricultural assistance to 30 countries helping people to change their lives and become self-reliant.
