Paul Douglas O'Reilly

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Douglas O'Reilly, who left this world on March 16, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on March 22, 1963, in Dayton, Texas, Paul made his home in Santa Fe, Texas, where he built a life filled with love, faith, and compassion.

Paul was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ryda, of almost 31 years, whom he married on April 18, 1994, at Grace Congregational Church in Pasadena, Texas. Their union was a testament to love and partnership, and together they shared countless cherished moments. Paul is also survived by his mother, Wanda Cox, and his siblings; Kathleen Watts, James O’Reilly, Patrick O’Reilly (wife, Damaris), and Kevin O’Reilly.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, James O'Reilly, his sister, Pam Cowan, and his grandparents: James M. O’Reilly, Virginia O’Reilly, Paul Armstrong, and Kathleen Smith.

As a firm believer in Jesus Christ, Paul spent his life witnessing to all who would listen, sharing his faith with kindness and sincerity. He was known for his heart of gold, always advocating for others and giving sacrificially to those in need. His family recalled that when a community tragedy took place, Paul took in a special family and helped them recover from the tragic event. A dedicated small business owner, he built three successful businesses from the ground up, including a boat trailer manufacturing company and a sports media business. His entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by his love for others, even if they were a stranger.

Paul had a servant’s heart and helping others in need from an early age. Paul enjoyed fishing, music, and sports. Elvis Presley was his all-time favorite artist to listen to. From an early age he enjoyed playing sports with his siblings, which eventually lead to playing basketball with Patrick as adults. Paul also had an enjoyment of delicious cheesecakes and casseroles made for him by Ryda.

At the age of 40, Paul pursued education with determination, ultimately earning three degrees and achieving honors that included membership in the National Honor Society and making the Dean's List. His perseverance and commitment to learning were an inspiration to those around him.

Paul will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, faith, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His family is confident he is with his Lord and Savior and they will be reunited in Heaven one day.
