Peggy Jean Koenig

June 10, 1935 — June 30, 2013

Peggy Jean Koenig, 78, of Angleton, Texas passed away peacefully on June 30, 2013 in Houston, Texas after a valiant fight with heart disease. Peggy was born on June 10, 1935 in Kilgore, Texas to Charles and Eola Chisum Palmer. She was the oldest of six children. After graduating from Conroe High School in 1953, Peggy moved to Houston to start her career at Gibraltar Savings. She soon met and then married the love of her life, Raymond Koenig on April 27, 1963. They settled in El Campo, Texas where Raymond worked for Dow Pipeline. Their transfer to Bay City, Texas was wonderfully followed by the birth of their daughter Kimberly Sue and son Raymond John. Peggy became very active in her children's activities and sports. Angleton, Texas was the next and permanent transfer for the Koenig's. Peggy loved it in Angleton and made lifelong friends. She worked for years at the Brazoria County Courthouse. Always active in St. Basil's/Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, she enjoyed being members of the Catholic Daughters and the Golden Stars. She loved working and cooking for the funeral dinners which allowed her to comfort those in need, and meet new people. Peggy also enjoyed her time with the Red Hat Society. After both Raymond and Peggy retired you would always see them together, day tripping and exploring Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Eola, and by her husband Raymond John Koenig, Sr. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Koenig of Angleton, her son, Raymond John Koenig, Jr. of Chicago, brothers; Charles Palmer and wife Carol, John Palmer and wife Joni, and George Palmer and wife Robin, sisters; Katherine and Dr. Joe King, and Cynthia and late husband Ronnie Tucker, sister-in-laws; Ellen Foytik and late husband Leroy, Margaret and Chester Wleczyk, along with numerous nieces and nephews, Dearest friends Lauren Hobbs, Linda Mueller, and Father Maurice Restivo as well as so many wonderful friends.
