Perry Paden "Pete" Dawson Perry Paden "Pete" Dawson, Jr, of Lake Jackson, Texas, age 86, died November 23, 2017. He was born November 24, 1930, in Livingston, Texas, of parents, Rev. Perry Peden Dawson, Sr., and Mary Ellen Grubbs Dawson. Being born in the Presbyterian manse, he was ‘born a Presbyterian.' He attended public schools in Livingston and Beeville, Texas, and was graduated from Angleton High School, the Valedictorian of the class of 1948. He earned a BS degree in chemical engineering from Texas A&M where he was a member of the Aggie Band. He earned MS and PhD degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. After serving in the US Air Force as a First Lieutenant, he was employed by El Paso Natural Gas, Reichold Chemical, Conoco, and Dow Chemical. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margy Dawson Eberspacher. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn Dawson of Lake Jackson, a son, Wynne Dawson of Los Angeles, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Dawson, two stepsons, Charles Hurst and Joel Hurst, both of Lake Jackson, stepdaughter, Reba Cooper of San Antonio, grandson, Callan Hurst and granddaughter, Abby Cooper. He was an Eagle Scout, a retired Deacon and Elder of the Presbyterian Church, a member of the honor fraternity Sigma Xi, and a third degree Mason.
