Richard Murnece Palmer November 26, 1950 ~ October 7, 2016 Richard Murnece Palmer, 65 of Freeport passed away Friday October 7, 2016 at his home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday October 24, 2016 in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday October 23, 2016 from 4-6 p.m. at Palms. Richard was born November 26, 1950 in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Raymond "Red" & Patsy Palmer. The family moved to Angleton in 1954. Richard graduated from Angleton High School in 1969. He was a gifted and talented master mechanic who loved automobiles and built and raced many cars. He was owner of Palmer Car Care in Freeport for 15 years, after 15 years at flagship store, Red Palmer Tire and Appliance in Angleton. He loved the water and fishing, was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for many years and had many adventures with them. Richard designed and built the first flounder boat in the area with surround railing upfront. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, JoAnn, his parents, and his son Ralph Larson. Survivors include his Brothers; Mike Palmer and wife Cindy, and Bill Palmer of Angleton, Steve Palmer of Commerce, TX & sister, Leslie Bingham of Dallas, TX, daughter, Shirley Rumsey, numerous, nieces, nephews & grandchildren, and many friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his wife Jo Ann Larson Palmer. He was fiercely loyal to family and would do anything for them. He will be greatly missed, we love you Richard.
