Ricky Wayne Morgan

Ricky Wayne Morgan, 44, of Brazoria, Texas passed peacefully from this earth while resting at 2:45 PM, on Saturday, 21st, 2024, after battling ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease for a short 19 months. He was born to William Alex Morgan, III and Peggy Sue Morgan in Wharton, Texas on October 24, 1979.

Ricky graduated from West Columbia High School in 1999. After High School, Ricky went on to start his plant life career. He started as a welder’s helper at Brazos M&E, which led to his lifelong career of being on the pipeline as a pipeline welder/fabricator. Ricky had 25 years of experience and taught and mentored many individuals along the way including Julio Juarez of 4 years, as well as his son, Dylan Morgan till the end of his welding career.

Ricky enjoyed the great outdoors. When the weekend came, you could usually find him on the mower, because he took great pride in his yard. He spent countless hours making sure his 26 acre place was well kept up. If yard of the month was a thing, Ricky would of sure earned it on County Road 519. Ricky loved riding his motorcycle with his best friend/brother, John Paul Bullard. They rode all over Brazoria County taking all the back roads Ricky knew about also riding to Galveston on several occasions. He also had the pleasure of riding with Ernie Garcia as well as other close family members and friends. He absolutely loved his motorcycle so much so he had to make sure it was shiny and clean before every ride.

Ricky enjoyed hunting. He loved going to help people keep their hog count down on their land, including the local neighbors. We will never forget that big kill that he got the night he used his night vision scope on his rig. Ricky was so excited. He not only had to get it’s weight, but he kept talking about it’s tusks and how he had to have that hog mounted as a trophy to hang on the wall for a big kill.

Ricky also enjoyed deer hunting. He had the pleasure of being joined in with Ed and Ellen Owens in places like San Saba, Llano and Eden, Texas for over 7 years. There were lots of memories shared in that short time period. Ricky also got to go with John Paul Bullard on many occasions to the ranch in Kerrville. Ricky absolutely loved those trips and the quality time they spent together, between the two of them. Ricky couldn’t ever stop talking about those days.

As a child, and up into adulthood, the Morgan boys were avid duck hunters. Ricky included his children always. Ricky loved to ride alongside his daddy in the boat, along with his brother, Steven. Trips included going across the creek to that specific duck blind. Ricky shared this tradition throughout the years with many nieces, nephews and friends along the way.

His family had a cabin in Chinquapin that they still have today. This is where we did many family gatherings and fellowshipped with one another. One of Ricky’s passed time hobbies was creating the logo on the Pig Rig's hats, that he sold, it was a vision that he created and represented.

Ricky enjoyed leather working and made many custom arm pads to protect welder’s arms while they welded. Ricky also made custom knife sheaths that could fit on welder’s belts to hold their favorite knives, something that went from a hobby to a busy business, quickly. The business became very time consuming to where he had to take a break. His friends and clients were always asking when he was going to pick back up leather working again.

He was a collector of many things, also a man of many talents, but an artist like no other. He was very meticulous in all he did. He made sure everything he laid his hands on was absolutely perfect in his eyes, when he finished the job. No matter how long it took. He was a true servant at heart and would help anyone in need, including his family. Ricky took great pleasure in doing work around the church. He engineered and fabricated the handrails at the front of his church. He created a mobile baptismal for our Pastors as a gift free of charge so that when people gave their life to Christ, they could publicly confess their faith and be baptized by water in something that had true meaning behind it. Ricky also created the partition in the heritage hall men’s bathroom to allow privacy. This is the 1st building our church was originally in.

Ricky would clean up at the church taking out the trash every Sunday after service. He had a true heart for people and for the Lord. Ricky had no shame in witnessing to anyone who was around him. He was an active member of the Gathering Church in West Columbia under the leadership of Pastors Tyler and Jimmi Owens, who were more than just pastors to Ricky. They became family to Ricky and his family. Ricky had the pleasure of being under their covering for almost 8 years.

Ricky is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Brittney Morgan, whom he had the pleasure of spending 21 years with. They met in 2003 and were united in marriage June 16th, 2010. His memory will forever be instilled in his 3 children. His daughter, Gabriela Martinez of Brazoria, His son, Dylan Morgan of Brazoria, His Daughter Tori Aguilar (Juan) of Florida, his beautiful granddaughter, to which he adored and lit up a room when she walked in to see her Papaw, Blakely K. Morgan. Soon, he will have a second granddaughter joining the family, Miss Alena Aguilar. Survived also are his bonus children, Jahayla Todd, Laney Irwin, his grandmother, Ruby Estelle “Peggy” Badders, his mother Peggy Sue Morgan, his siblings, Steven Morgan (Jennifer Trogdon Atkins), his sister, Sherrie Reck (Stephen), in-laws, James and Denise Kalischko, brother-in-law, Colt Kalischko (Ashley), sister-in-law, Madison Turner (Brendan), as well as many other cherished family members and friends. He leaves behind his cherished pets and greatest companions, Welder, Zeke, Biddy and Rebel.

Ricky is preceded in death by his Peepaw, Shorty Morgan, his Nanny, Eula Morgan, his Papaw, Thomas Badders also known as “Papaw Slinky Joe” and his father, William Alex Morgan, III.

A celebration of Ricky’s life will take place on Friday, September 27th, 2024 at the Gathering Church located at 215 South 15th Street West Columbia, Texas 77486. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM and continue until service time at 1:00 PM.
