After Graduation he attended a year of education at Pan American University in Edinburg,Tx. In October 1978 Robert moved to Rosharon, Tx to start his career in TDCJ at Ramsey 2. He soon received the suitable nickname "Big H". Working there he met his lifelong friends. In which he impacted his comrades in many glorious ways. Big H supported and brought forth the attention for their many positive attributes. He was known as a kindhearted man who was always looked up to for guidance and direction. Taking many under his wing and showing them what it takes to be an exceptional person. Always viewed as a Legend; the offenders would best describe him as a respectable, motivational guide. Big H gave them advice and showed them patience. Listening to their words and allowing them to be heard. After 33 dedicated years he retired in 2011. His Legend will live on. After retirement Robert dedicated his time to his Family. Taking care of his elderly mother and often visiting his twin brother and wreaking havoc by spoiling his nieces and nephews. He took it upon himself to be another exemplary brotherly figure in his nieces and nephews' lives. He took them to school, attended their extracurricular activities and always supported them through their hardships. In an effort of making this world a better place he participated in being an active member of the Freemasons in the local Masonic lodge. He also loved his fareshare of music and indulged in many genres. He attended an astonishing number of live shows and collected a wide array of band memorabilia enough to fill a museum. He is survived by his mother Maria Guadalupe Hernandez, his twin brother Gene Hernandez, his sister-in-law Veronica Hernandez, his nieces and nephews Elias Concepcion Hernandez, Ana Maria Hernandez, Anthony Luis Hernandez, Robert Jose Hernandez. He will be dearly missed but will never be forgotten! For the safety of all attending, mask are required and social distancing is encouraged. Service Details.
