Roddie Jean Buchanan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roddie Jean Buchanan, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Roddie departed this world on March 9, 2025, at the age of 92, in Angleton, Texas, due to natural causes. She was born on July 30, 1932, in Lexie, Mississippi, and dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior, her family, friends, and a successful career as an administrative assistant at Dow Chemical. 

Roddie will be remembered for her unwavering love and commitment to her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Beverly Fletcher, and son-in-law, Tom Fletcher; her devoted son, Jimmy Buchanan, and daughter-in-law, Karen Buchanan; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Wesley Buchanan, Aubrey Buchanan, Brian Pilcik, Miranda Pilcik, Lisa Lanier, Kevin Lanier, Kelly Woodson, Chris Woodson, Jeff Fletcher, Keri Fletcher, Casey Fletcher, Cheryl Fletcher, Kyle Winegart, Amy Winegart, Kate Gilliland, and Andy Gilliland; all of who will cherish her memories as they will be forever be etched in their hearts.

To honor her memory, the family invites friends and loved ones to join in a visitation at Palms Funeral Home on March 19, 2025, at 5:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Palms Funeral Home the following day, March 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Following the service, a graveside service will take place at Brazoria Cemetery at 3:30 PM, where Roddie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband; Herman.

As we reflect on Roddie's remarkable life, we celebrate the legacy of love she leaves behind. Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Roddie was preceded in death by: her husband; Herman Buchanan, Jr., her parents; Theron and Wilma (Smith) Broadus, brother; Theron Broadus, Jr., and sister; Marriane Buice.
