Rodney Duke Collins, 69, of Angleton passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at his home. Memorial services will be held at his daughter's home in Angleton on Saturday January 26, 2019 from 12p.m. until 4 p.m. Rodney was born July 31, 1949 in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated from Alba High School in Bayou La Batre, Alabama in 1968. He served in the US Army in Germany and for years did local general contracting and later opened two restaurants- The Landing & The Heritage Inn with his Mother. Rodney retired within the last few years due to illness. He had a fun loving personality and didn't meet a stranger. He loved his family, his dogs & working on old vehicles made before the 80s. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Collins, his mother, Audrey Battiste & step-father Eugene Boykin, sister, Darlene Boykin, grandmother, Ruby Hill & grandfather, Maslon Bosarge. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Phyllis Collins, daughter, Jennifer Jones (Josh), son Marlon Hartshorn, grandchildren; Kendall Glaze, Lindsey Honeycutt, Alyssa Honeycutt & Luke Honeycutt. Sister, Hettie Midgette ( Mike) and brothers; Tommy (Paula) Boykin, Frank Boykin, & Olen Boykin (Lois) In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local SPCA. Memorial Service from 12- 4 at his daughters home.
