Roger Keith Runkel

Roger Keith Runkel, 81, of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Berniece Robbins Runkel, and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Harry Hampel. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 62 years, Peggy Sturdivant Runkel; daughter, Shelly Rhyne (Randy); son, Steven Runkel (Sonya); grandson, Justin Rhyne; siblings, Kenneth Runkel (Jan), Dale Runkel (Pat), Mary Nowlin (Art), Tom W. Runkel (Patricia); and numerous nieces and nephews. Roger was born September 27, 1939, in Moweaqua, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Peggy, on June 26, 1959. He owned Runkel's Auto Body Shop, for 59 years, and was a wonderful provider for his family. Roger enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and especially camping with family and friends. He umpired baseball and softball games and even served as an Officer in the Angleton Umpires Association. Always there to lend a hand, Roger would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation and funeral service for Roger will take place at Palms Funeral Home, on Friday, July 30, 2021. The visitation will be held from 10 am until the service begins at 11:30 am.
