Sandra “Sandy” Elaine Bracken, 73, of Angleton passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. Sandy was born on December 7, 1951, in Houston to Robert and Lydia (Cooper) Whitaker.

Sandy was a loving and dedicated nurse at MD Anderson, where she made a profound impact on the lives of her patients and colleagues throughout her career. Sandy was a person of deep compassion and kindness, and her dedication to helping others was evident in everything she did. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she had a passion for reading, which she often found to be a way to escape and unwind. Her love for books was a reflection of her curiosity and thirst for knowledge, which she carried with her throughout her life.

She is survived by her son Shane Bracken and wife Cortney Bracken, her grandson Corbin Bracken, and granddaughters Grace and Bailey Bracken who will cherish her memory and hold her in their hearts forever. Those dear to her heart also include her brother Russell (Theresa) Whitaker, sisters Janice (John) Reuther, Sharon (Joe) Richards, Phyllis (Ben) Cart and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Those that preceded her in death include, her father Robert Whitaker and her mother Lydia (Cooper) Whitaker, her sister Kathy Whitaker McGaughy, and her brother Robert Whitaker Jr., and niece Courtney McGaughy.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 15, 2025 at 10am at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton.
