Scot Colton Stephens

August 4, 1954 — February 3, 2017

In Loving Memory of Scot Colton Stephens August 4, 1954 ~ February 3, 2017 Scot Colton Stephens, a lifetime resident of Angleton, Texas, left this life on Friday, February 3, 2017. Scot was born on August 4, 1954 in Angleton, Texas. He graduated from Angleton High School and worked briefly for Dow Chemical Company. However, he found his lifetime career path in the nuclear power industry. He served almost two decades as an operator for the STP Nuclear Facility of Bay City, Texas. Ultimately, he became an independent Nuclear Consultant working in nuclear facilities in Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Scot was a self described "romantic" with a tremendous appreciation for biblical scripture, music, poetry and fine food. Yet, he was, most of all, a rugged outdoorsman who lived to hunt and fish. His knowledge and talent for rod building and ammunition reloading brought him decades of enjoyment and the admiration of friends, family and enthusiasts across the country. He was known for his generosity, his quick wit and sense of chivalry. He delighted in people-having old friends and making new ones. In the last few years of his life he struggled with cancer. In spite of his illness, the love for his family, his hobbies and his sense of humor gave him the strength to battle the setbacks with courage and a valiant determination. He is survived by his children, Jenny Stephens Lawson (Keaton) of Fort Worth, Texas, Allison Stephens Davis, (Nate) of Amarillo, Texas, Emily Stephens (fianc Jason Rychlik) of Richwood, Texas and Mark Stephens (Kelly) of Pearland, Texas. Grandchildren: Ava and Ella Lawson, Graham Davis, and Whitley Rychlik. Scot was preceded in death by his father, James M. Stephens. He is survived by his mother, Jane Stephens of Angleton, siblings Marlette Tolley (Roger) of League City, Texas, Ginger Stone (Rocky) of Russellville, Alabama and Eric Stephens (Karen) of Angleton, Texas. He leaves numerous nephews and nieces. His friends are beyond number. A memorial service will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton Texas, Tuesday February 7 at 11:00 AM. A luncheon celebrating Scot's life will be held immediately following the memorial service at 1701 Quarter Horse Trail (Bar X Lake House) Angleton, Texas 77515.
