Shirley M. Martin, 78, of Conroe, went to see Jesus Tuesday, December 24, 2013. Graveside services are set for 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013, at the Angleton Cemetery Pavilion. Shirley was born May 3, 1935 in East St. Louis, Illinois, to William and Hazel Mathias. Shirley started her career at the age of 16 with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Houston, Texas. She was a teller who enjoyed greeting the public. She retired from Southwestern Bell in February 1985 with 34 years of service. She was a very caring person who always loved to be at home. She loved her furry kitty friends and never turned a newcomer away. Shirley married her sweetheart and best friend, James Martin and they were married 51 years. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, James in 2010. Shirley is survived by her brother and wife, Bill Mathias and Laticia, and brother Fred Koritta and wife Pat, niece and husband, Beth and Chuck Thompson, nephew and husband, Bill and Mindy Mathias, nieces Shirley and Marisha Mathias neices Jeanne Light and Gina and husband Ed Cotter and great niece Hanna Baird, great niece and husband Nikki and Warren Simpson, and great nephews Taylor and Jake Thompson and Mark Mathias.
