Sidney Levoy Knape , 85, of Alvin,Texas passed away in his sleep Saturday morning January 26th, 2019. He was born on February 25th, 1933 in Alvin, Texas to Joseph and Florence Knape in their home. Sid married the love of his life, Mary Peltier, on October 17, 1953 in Danbury, Texas. They were honored to have the first High Mass celebration at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Sid worked at the Knape family dairy until he went to work for Monsanto in 1961. He started as a laborer when the plant was being built and advanced to an operator and finally the I & E department. Sid retired in 1991 from the plant after almost 30 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Sid was an avid gardener and hunter. He grew enough produce to feed his entire extended family, friends and neighbors. His tomatoes were legendary. Sid loved spending time outdoors, from his early years offshore fishing and shrimping to deer hunting for more than 50 years. Sid was also an accomplished carpenter, building their home that they have lived in for more than 65 years. His parents and two siblings, Mabel Solie and Clyde Knape preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary; sons, Allen Knape & wife Susan of Lumberton, TX; James Knape & wife Fay of Danbury, TX; daughters, Patty Geissen of Bay City, TX; Carol Roecker & husband Dennis of Danbury, TX; Grandchildren, Chris Knape & wife Beth, Jason Roecker & wife Sarah, Jeff Knape & wife Elise, Tera DuBose & husband Cody, Tasha Roecker, Michelle Hedgecock, Breah Knape, Ryan Pucek, Patrick Knape, Colby Geissen. Great Grandchildren, Michael Summers, Emilee Summers, Landon Roecker, Karson Knape, Maverick Parrack, Colton Knape, Jaxon Hedgecock, Sydney Parrack, Hunter DuBose, Greyson Roecker, Wesley Roecker, Charlotte Hedgecock, Henry Knape. Brother, Harrel Knape & wife Betty and sister, Hazel Pendergras. Visitation will be Thursday January 31, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. with Rosary starting at 7:00 p. m. at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday February 1, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Danbury.
