Stanley Gene Mcgee

Stanley Gene McGee, 63, passed away October 21, 2012, with his children at his bedside, in his West Columbia home after bravely fighting kidney cancer for the past year. Stan "The Man" was born March 29, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Alton and Lyndal McGee. Stan graduated from Angleton High School in 1967 in Angleton, Texas where he was an Eagle Scout, played varsity football and served on the student council. He continued his education at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, graduating in 1971 after earning his Bachelor of Arts in History and Government. Stan married in August of 1973 and from that union came his son, Grant, and daughter, Paige. Stan studied to become an attorney and graduated from the Bates College of Law at the University of Houston with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in December of 1973. He became a licensed attorney and counselor at law by the State of Texas in April of 1974 and opened the McGee Law Office in Houston that same year. In 1980, he moved his practice to Angleton. Stan became Board Certified in Criminal Law in 1990. Stan was a lifetime member of the Brazoria County Bar Association. He was also a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Stan served as President of the Angleton Noon Lions Club from 1987-1988. He enjoyed reading many books each week, golfing with his son and friends, family ski trips to Colorado and dove hunting in Pearsall, Texas. He enjoyed gambling in Las Vegas and Louisiana, homemade vanilla Blue Bell ice cream, and bottled Budweiser beer. For many years he enjoyed being a buyer at the Brazoria County Youth Fair Auction. He is survived by his loving fiance, Pamela Dore, his adoring children, Grant and wife Kasey McGee, Paige and husband Nolan Dean; grandchildren: Jayci McGee, Kaleb McGee, and Liam Dean, his mother, Lyndal McGee of Angleton; his brother and sister and their spouses, Terry and Connie McGee of Angleton, and Lloyd and Angela Wollam of Danbury; and many more relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Alton McGee. A Memorial Service to celebrate Stan's life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Angleton, Texas on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2pm. Immediately thereafter, a brief visitation with the family will take place at the church's fellowship hall.
