Stephanie Kay Cisneros

January 17, 1972 — April 8, 2022

Stephanie Kay Cisneros lost her long, hard-fought battle with Multiple Sclerosis on Friday, April 8, 2022, at the age of 50. She is survived by her husband, Frank Serbantez III; her mother, Beverly Etheridge and beloved stepfather, Charlie Nations of Pensacola, FL; and her father, David Cisneros of Sweeny, TX. She will be missed by her siblings: brothers Jefferson Cisneros and Bradford Erwin, and sisters Lela Erwin and Victoria Gardzina, along with her husband Joe and son Will. Steph is also survived by her favorite uncle, Jesse Cisneros of Sweeny, TX, as well as many other aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. Nothing was more precious to her than her dogs: Calie, Bo, and Charlie. Born on January 17, 1972, Steph served her community in law enforcement for nearly twenty years. Her career started as a dispatcher in Brazoria, where she one day asked the chief if he would get her a gun carry permit. He said, "Stephanie, I would issue a carry permit to every one of these inmates before I issued one to you!" And so began her quest to become a police officer. She worked graveyard dispatch shifts in Lake Jackson while attending the police academy during the day, and she became a police officer in Angleton after graduation. She loved being on patrol and interacting with her community. She rose to the rank of corporal and then became a detective before complications from MS forced her to retire. Being a police officer was more than her occupation; it was her life. Though MS may have robbed Steph of her physical health, taking her from us much too soon, it could never steal her fire. To the very end, she remained a fierce fighter, determined to live life on her own terms. Our hearts are broken to say goodbye. She is dearly loved and will be forever missed. The family would like to extend a special "Thank you" to her recent caregivers: Phyllis Gripp and Jonathan Bastidas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Memorial Service following at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Palms Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Angleton Police Officer's Association at 104 Cannon Drive, Angleton, Tx. 77515 or the SPCA of Brazoria County. Service Details.
