October 14, 1953 — September 13, 2018

Stephen Murray "Molc" Coleman Stephen Murray Coleman unexpectedly passed away during the early morning of September 13, 2018, at the age of 64. A native of Brazoria County, Steve was born on October 14, 1953, in Freeport at Angleton Clinic-Hospital to Cleo Cannon Coleman and Melvin Darrell Coleman. He grew up in Bonney and attended public schools in Angleton, graduating in 1972. Steve attended Southwest Texas State in San Marcos and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1979. He later attended the South Texas College of Law and graduated in 1990 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. On June 27, 1981, Steve married his true love, Mary Margaret Muldrow. Their daughters, Stephenie and Alyson were born in the coming years and he embarked on some of his greatest accomplishments as a husband and father. He spent many days traveling the state with his daughters participating in rodeos and instilling a lifelong love of raising horses, goats, dogs, and cattle. In recent years, he started a herd of Charolais that he planned to raise on their land in Groesbeck, Texas. Steve was truly a Renaissance man. Professionally, Steve wore many hats; a farmer, rancher, pharmacist, attorney, and college professor. He was active in his community and served on the Angleton/Danbury Hospital Board of Directors, the Angleton ISD School Board of Trustees, a volunteer and lifelong member of the Brazoria County Fair Association, the Texas A&M Rodeo Club, the Angleton Rotary Club, was a founding member of the Danbury Rotary Club, and a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo volunteer for over 20 years. Steve was a longtime Houston Cougars fan and later, a Texas Aggies fan. He loved a good hockey game. In his youth he raced cars and along with his dad and brothers, made trips to the Indianapolis 500 and other major auto races. Steve enjoyed snow skiing and trips to Colorado and New Mexico with his family. As a kid he spent time working as a deckhand on his father's party boat and grew to enjoy saltwater fishing. Steve loved cooking and was a member of one of the original Brazoria County Fair Bar-B-Q cook-off teams, the Gristle Burners. He made a famous gumbo enjoyed by his lucky family and friends. Steve kept a loyal group of friends throughout his life and was known by many as "Molc." He was an articulate man with the gift of wit and candor often observed in his numerous newspaper editorials and popular social media posts. He was always honest and straightforward in his opinions and articles. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Coleman, his grandparents, an uncle, George Cannon, and his father and mother-in-law, Jack and Billie Ruth Muldrow. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Margaret Coleman, daughter Stephenie Bradley and her husband Gary, granddaughter Lily Ruth Bradley, daughter Alyson Coleman, mother Cleo Coleman, brother Lamar Coleman and his wife Barbara, and brother Martin Coleman and his wife Tammy.
