Steven (Steve) Kenneth Stricker, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in Baytown, Texas. He was born May 6, 1950 in Stoughton, Wisconsin to parents Kenneth and Sarita (Drafhal) Stricker. Steve was a loving son, brother, husband, dad, and "Pops." Steve graduated from Parker High school in Janesville, Wisconsin in 1968. After high school, he attended Blackhawk Technical School in Monroe, Wisconsin and received an apprenticeship in carpentry to build new homes and restore old ones. Steve continued in home construction and restoration for 10 years. He moved his family to Rosenberg, Texas in November of 1979. He continued in home construction until 1983 at which time he went into the transportation industry. He worked at Vista Leasing/"B & H Phillips" for many years before going into business for himself. He continued to work in the transportation industry until his death. He valued hard work and always went above and beyond what was expected. Friends and family always referred to him as one of the hardest working men around. Not surprisingly, he earned the respect from all those he worked with and encountered. Steve always continued with his passion for carpentry. He enjoyed building furniture for family and friends and volunteering with his wife at the Angleton Republican Women's Club also building items to donate for its fundraisers. He made sure that his family valued hard work, honesty, and integrity. He enjoyed his role as Pops and taught his grandson Parker (much to the chagrin of everyone else) how to use a table saw at the age of 10 saying "Kids got to be tough." The result was a bird house for Mother's Day made by them with love (and Parker still had all 10 fingers.) Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Sarita and son, John Scott. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Phillips Stricker of Needville, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Shyla Hansche and Matthew of Placitas, NM; grandchildren, Brooke Wolgast, Evan Hansche and Harrison Wolny; great-grandchildren, Rylee, Gavyn and Paxton; father, Kenneth Stricker; and sisters, Cindy Roehl and Karen Schultz along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
