Steven Thompson

December 15, 1954 — November 24, 2016

Steven Wade Thompson December 15, 1954 - November 24, 2016 Steven Wade Thompson of West Columbia, Texas, died on November 24, 2016, at the age of 61, but his larger-than-life persona and trademark stubbornness will not be forgotten. He was born on December 15, 1954 in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was the youngest son of the late L.A. Thompson and Betty Cobb Smith. He has 3 older brothers David, Clyde, and Richard Thompson. He use to go around saying, "I'm the god brother you mess with me my brothers take care of you". He was married to Lynae Ann Thompson for 24 years: he adopted his first son Jon Michael Thompson, and fathers a second son Steven Gabriel Thompson. Affectionately known as Steve and just Dad by his family and many friends, he was a truck driver by trade, a tremendously fun and funny man who also enjoyed fishing, dancing and most of all football. But Steve had many loves, too. He loved his wife, Laura Thompson. They were so very happy together; He also dearly loved his children and grandchildren. Famously opinionated, and once he started talking could usually bring out a smile, Steve handed these qualities down to his own son, Steven Gabriel Thompson of West Columbia, Texas, a sharp-tounged character in his own right. Steve's strong work ethic, keen sense of family devotion, and his love of the Lord Jesus Christ live on with his wife Laura, his sons, Jon Michael and Steven Gabriel, and his step daughters Donna Rice and Julie Edwards. He took extreme pride in his 16 adorable grandchildren, who affectionately called him Grandpa. He also loved milkshakes, boiled shrimp, beer, Jim Beam, taking afternoon naps in his recliner, and hanging out with family and friends.
