Theresa Barbara Tennison

Theresa Barbara (Fekete) Tennison of Angleton, Texas, passed away at her home, surrounded by family, on the morning of May 30, 2015. Theresa was born in Amherstdale, West Virginia on March 11, 1932, the ninth of twelve children of Hungarian immigrants Joseph and Teresa Fekete. When she was six years old, her family moved to the Hungarian settlement in southeast Louisiana. Theresa managed to keep up with her studies and graduate from high school while working long hours with her brothers and sisters in the strawberry farms. She moved to New Orleans to look for office work, and met a young Navy sailor from Angleton named RL Tennison, who would become her devoted husband until his death in 1992. Theresa had a gift for organization and record-keeping - she served as the trusted office administrator for Dr. Wayne K. Steele of Angleton for 28 years, then moved on to Brazosport College, where she worked in the accounting department for another 16 years. In retirement, Theresa never missed an opportunity to do the morning crossword, study the baseball box scores, work in her garden, or bake sweets for her grandchildren. Theresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, RL Tennison of Angleton, Siblings Joe, Elizabeth, Shoney, Ernest, Irene, Eleanor, Franklin & Irvin. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Tennison Montgomery of Angleton, son Daniel Wayne Tennison, siblings Helen, Bondy & Eddie, grandchildren Joel Z. Montgomery of Houston, Teresa "Chelly" White of Cypress, Texas, R. Levi Montgomery of Spring Branch, Texas, Peter V. Montgomery of Chula Vista, California, Justin W. Kilpatrick of Austin, Danyel Bell of Angleton, and twelve great-grandchildren, all who were blessed by the unconditional love, vitality, and gentle nature of their "Ma-Ma." Visitation will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton on Thursday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral service will be held at Palms Funeral Home on Friday, June 5, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at the Angleton Cemetery. Theresa's grandsons are serving as pallbearers, along with Garrett Bell and Doug White. Honorary pallbearers are David Wallace and Michael Wallace.
