Thomas Charles Adams, 85 of Rosharon, Texas died Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at his home. He was born April 25, 1935 to Quitman C. Adams and Virgie L. Adams. The Adams family moved to Rosharon in 1948 from Franklin, Texas, and Charles proudly graduated from Angleton High School in 1953. In 1954, Charles married Mary Helen Wootton also of Rosharon, Texas. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Charles was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Rosharon serving 57 years as a deacon. In addition, he served on several committees and taught Sunday school through the years with his church family. Charles was a man's man who loved to hunt and work on any kind of motor. He took pride in his family and is remembered for being a man who took care of business and made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room. Charles was commissioned as a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper in 1969 and was stationed in Angleton, Texas. In 1974, he transferred into the License and Weight Division and served 13 years. He promoted to License and Weight Sergeant in Rosenberg, Texas in 1987 and continued his service until his retirement in 1995. During his service with DPS, he joined the Department of Public Safety Officers Association as member #13 in 1974. DPSOA works to advocate on behalf of Troopers, Agents, Rangers, Officers, Communication Personnel, and Forensic Scientists of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Their mission is to improve the general welfare of DPS personnel and create safer streets and highways and better communities across Texas. He served as President of the organization in 1989, ‘90, ‘91, ‘95 and 1996. In addition, he served as a DPSOA Board Member for Region II for 22 years. Charles was predeceased by his parents, wife, Helen Adams, son Steven Wayne Adams, and brothers and sisters, Jimmie V. Adams, Louise Lowe, Aubrey D. Adams, Rolan C. Adams, Billy J. Adams, Douglas E. Adams, Sandra K. Cupps, and Sherry A. Adams. Predeceased sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law include Wallace Lowe, Martha Adams, Wanda S. Adams, H.D. Linehan, Barbara Wootton and Glenn Wootton. Charles is survived by his son Barry Adams and wife Missy Adams of Angleton, his brother Gary Adams and wife Dorothy of Needville, Texas, sister Barbara Linehan of Guy, Texas, grandchildren Adam Adams of Poolville, John Henry Adams and Cassie Adams of Comfort, Rebecca Adams of Angleton and two great-grandchildren, Tristyn Adams of Poolville, and Charlotte "Charlie" Adams of Comfort. Charles is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law J.P. and Betty Court of Stafford, Kathy Wootton of Angleton, and Jimmy Wootton of Livingston, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. First Baptist Church of Rosharon will host the visitation and service with Pastor Brian Martin officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are required and seating is limited. Visitation for family will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, October 19, and friends are welcome from 10-11. The service will begin at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at the Angleton Cemetery located on Cemetery Road, Angleton, Texas.
