Thomas "Tom" Arthur Choules

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas “Tom” Arthur Choules, who left us peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 8, 1938, in London, England, and he grew up in Kent, England. Thomas made his home in Angleton, Texas, where he inspired many with his craftsmanship and dedication to his work as a carpenter along with his love of singing and music. As a tradesman, he poured his heart and soul into every project, creating strong and lasting structures that reflected his commitment to quality. As a singer, his rich voice resonated across any space and captivated all whether it was in praise or celebration.

In London, England, met the woman he would spend the rest of his days with, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” O’Driscoll. Tom was building an addition to the hospital where she was doing her training, and this is where their love story began. They were wed on February 14, 1966, in Cobh, Ireland and flew to Corpus Christi, TX that same day. They shared many stories of going to dances both when dating and with their friends through the years. While in Corpus Christi, they later welcomed their two adored children, Karen and Tommy. They moved again in 1974 and settled in Angleton, TX. He retired as a general superintendent of Norrell Construction at the age of 81.

Tom and Liz traveled home as often as possible to visit their families. He spent many years coaching youth soccer and softball for his children along with other kids who he still would see around town, although now they have children and grandchildren of their own. Tom and Liz spent many years singing in the choir at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Most of all they loved to spend time with their family and friends, especially their 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He loved being a granddad the most.

Tom will be remembered not just for his skills as a carpenter and a singer, but also for his warmth and dedication as a father. He was our gentle giant and could always be counted on to be the calm in the storm. Left to treasure an abundance of memories is his two children, daughter Karen Castillo and her husband Raul, and son Tommy Choules and his wife Brandi; sister Sue Sergent; sister-in-law, Cara Cowhie; grandchildren: Stephen, Christian, Ryan and Grace Castillo; along with many other nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved Liz in 2022 along with his parents, sister, Margaret, brother-in law Pete, and brother-in law, Ray.

The visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, from 6-8PM at Palms Funeral Home where all are invited to gather to share memories and honor the legacy he leaves behind. A Funeral Service will be held on May 1st, 2025, at 10am at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Following the service, a reception will be held in the center’s main hall, where attendees can share stories, laughter, and tears in remembrance of Tom.

Thomas Arthur Choules will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
