Timothy Lee Copeland

June 19, 1958 — August 31, 2024

Timothy Lee Copeland, Tim, died peacefully on Saturday morning, August 31, while visiting friends in Colorado. He was born in Morgan City, Louisiana, to Ellsworth “Mike” Copeland and Verla Dale Williamson Copeland.

Tim moved with his family to several states around the country during his father’s career in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Angleton High School in 1976 and lived in Angleton from 1973 to 2024. He attended Wharton Junior College on a tennis scholarship and followed that academic pursuit to Brazosport College.

Tim retired after a career in Dow Site Logistics where he made life-long friends. He is also warmly remembered for his years when he was a waiter and caterer at Windswept restaurant. At both places of employment, Tim met many friends who still love him to this day.

Tim explored the country his entire adult life and spent much time outdoors. He played tennis and loved to fish. His friends in his tennis leagues were near and dear to him while his fishing buddies spent many happy times with him.

His travels usually included a stop at a friend's or relative’s home where he continued to build life-long relationships. Knowing Tim was knowing what a true friend could be. He was a shining example of serving Christ by never turning someone away with a need he could meet. Having Tim as a visitor was a joy to all who loved him.

Tim’s love for his family exemplified how Christ loves us. His immediate and extended family is held tightly together, in part, due to his never-ending love for them. Tim instigated and executed dinner parties, family reunions, and myriad other social gatherings. His love of people showed in all aspects of his life.

Tim is survived by his mother, Verla Copeland, and sisters Terri Copeland, Toni Weber (Jim), and Tracie Copeland; his nieces Lisa Youngblood (Myles) and Leah Strickland (Joshua); and his uncle, Paul Williamson. He is loved and missed by more than many cousins and other relatives, whom he considered some of his best friends.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Mike Copeland, his paternal grandparents, Mike and Lila Copeland, and his maternal grandparents, Hank and Bertha Williamson.

Visitation will be Sept. 9, 5-7 p.m., and the memorial service will be held Sept. 10, 11 a.m.- noon. Both will be held at Angleton Second Baptist Church, 1817 Shanks Rd., Angleton, TX 77515.
