Tommy C. Neill

In Loving Memory of Tom C. Neill April 10, 1927 ~ November 10, 2016 The world has lost a fine man who is now receiving his just reward- peace forevermore. Tom C. Neill, of Angleton, died November 10, 2016. He was born in Ada, Oklahoma, April 10, 1927. Three months later his parents, I.C. and Violet Pyatt Neill, moved to Sherman, Texas. He attended Sherman High School and Texas A&M University. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard at age 17 with his parents' blessings. After W.W. II he returned to A&M to complete his degree in Architectural Engineering. He worked for an architectural firm in Corpus Christi, Texas and the Frisco railroad. He started his career with Dow Chemical Co. in 1951 where he worked for the next 34 years. He retired in 1985. He was a loyal employee who was appreciated by his employer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Angleton. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth, and daughter, Pamela. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis, son, Thomas (Pete), Pete's wife, Mirtha, who Tom called his daughter, of Lake Jackson. Mirtha spent the last few months of Tom's life helping to take care of him. Other survivors are grandchildren, Celeste (Trent), Burnet, Tx., Lauren, Lake Jackson, Adam (Sarah), Durham, N.C., Becca (Kyle), Lake Jackson, Jessica (Zach), Lake Jackson, and Gillian, a student at the University of N. Texas, Denton. Great-Grands are Colt, Payton and Jace Rozacky, Violet Collins, Ben and Gracie Ann Reese. Tom's greatest joy was his family. He was a loving son, husband, father, "Pop-pa", and a great friend to many people. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He also enjoyed going on scouting trips when Pete and Ken were in boy scouting. He loved working in his large yard doing the moving with a walk-behind mower instead of a riding mower, saying he needed the exercise! He and Phyllis took many breaks from their chores to play card games, especially S & M (Spite and Malice), though Tom called it sadism and masochism. Tom had fun saying he was the masochist and Phyl was the sadist, because, though Phyl won most of the games, he would just keep on playing! They so enjoyed their times together. Tom was so much fun! Oh, this wonderful, good, kind man will be greatly missed! Thanks be to God for allowing him to be in our lives for all these past years. A private service will be held later.
