Velma Rongey

Velma Smith Rongey, 85, of Angleton passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Galveston. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 at Palms. Mrs Rongey was born October 14, 1929 in Liddieville, Louisiana to Taft & Nettie (Langston) Smith. She married Jack L Rongey on February 13, 1951 in Woodville, Mississippi. She retired from the US Postal Service and enjoyed traveling, ranching and spending time between Angleton & Liddieville. Mrs. Rongey was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Toni Disiere, son Raymond Rongey, one sister & one brother. Survivors include her husband of 63 years Jack Rongey of Angleton Children; Annette Shook & husband Craig from Aransas Pass, Sue Durke & husband Larry of Coatesville, PA, Laney Rongey & wife June of Angleton & Reece Rongey of Sweeny. 10 Grandchildren & 7 Great-Grandchildren.
