Virginia May Meredith, 72, of Angleton passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at her home. A Celebration of her Life is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5 to 7 at Palms. Virginia was born June 2, 1941 in Houston, Tx to Oscar & Nannie (Rector) Rader, Sr. An area resident since 1964, she was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Brazoria and a former member of 1st Baptist Church of Rosharon. Virginia worked for the US Postal Service for 28 years as a Rural Letter Carrier and a trainer. She was active in the Union and attended several state & national conventions. For all her hard work, she was named Top Employee of the Year for the State Texas. She also worked for Angleton ISD for 9 years in several different positions. Virginia's true love and passion was her family and volunteering. She cherished the memories of family vacations, trail rides and celebrations. She served as a board member & member of the Brazoria County Fair Association where she volunteered for 46 years. She worked tirelessly with the kids, and considered them "Our Future" Virginia was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Wilburn "Buddy" Meredith of Angleton Sons, Wilburn Daniel "Danny" Meredith & wife Eva of Danbury, Harvey Dwayne Meredith & wife Rena of Alvin, Claud Allen Meredith & wife Christi of Angleton. Daughter, Sharon Nanette Ballard & husband Kenneth of Angleton. Brothers, Oscar Daniel Rader, Jr & wife Mary, James Thompson Rader & wife Shirley, Samuel Revace Rader & wife Beth and numerous nieces, nephews & great nieces & nephews. Grandchildren, Daniel Lynn Meredith, Craig Joseph Meredith & wife Courtney, Leigh Ann Hernandez, Travis Harvey Meredith & wife Sarah, Dolan Wayne Harris, III, Deanna Lynn Nash & husband Justin, Branden Paul Ballard, Lance Allen Meredith & friend, Andrea David & Blaine Paul Meredith. Great-Grandchildren Aleric Jordan Hernandez, Michela Leigh Meredith, Desmond Hayes Nash, Elanore Grace Nash, Whitley Mae. Step-Grandchildren, Hailey, Holden, Hannah, Nichole & Kendra. Step-Great Grandchildren, Chasity & Malea Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and all great-grandchildren & step grand & great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to thank Leon, Jill, Joni & Lacey for their care during Virginia's illness. In lieu of usual remembrances , Virginia requested donations be made to the M.D. Anderson Children's Cancer Hospital 1515 Holcomb Unit 87 Houston, Texas 77030 Attention Quinn Franklin.
