Virgina "Chinna" Martin Yaklin 02/09/1938 - 08/18/2018 Virginia (Chinna) Martin Yaklin, 80 of Brazoria, Texas passed away at her home in Brazoria surrounded by family on Saturday, August 18, 2018. She was born February 9, 1938 in Kingsville, Texas to Cleve and Georgie Hawkins. She was a resident of Brazoria County since 1965. Chinna was an 8th grade English teacher with Brazosport ISD for 32 years and after retirement she continued to substitute teaching with the Columbia-Brazoria ISD for 10 years. Chinna served on many civic boards including the Brazosport College Foundation Advisory Council, Brazoria County Fair Association, Brazoria County Women's Center Board, Brazoria Economic Growth Team, Brazoria Heritage Foundation Board, Brazoria County 100 Club Board, Brazoria Chamber of Commerce Board and named the Outstanding Woman of the Year in 1997. She also volunteered for many local non-profit organizations and churches. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Brazoria Heritage Foundation Auditorium, 202 Smith St. in Brazoria, TX with Brother Jamie Hill with the Victory Fellowship Cowboy Church and Pastor Johannes Poetschner with the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Chinna is survived by Husband of 34 years, Louie Yaklin, Son, Rusty Martin and wife, Beverly; Daughter: Katherine Davis and her husband, Dale; Step Son: Steve Yaklin; Step Son: Mark Yaklin; Step Daughter, Sandy and her husband, Raymond Wilder; Step Daughter, Janice Edwards and her husband, Steve; Step Daughter: Michelle Yaklin Meuth and her husband, Scott; 11 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren, numerous Brother and Sister in Laws, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, her beloved dog, Hobo and many cherished friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; Her first husband of 25 years, Russell Martin; Sister, Boo Miller; Brother, Buddy Hawkins; and grandson, Jeffery Davis.
