Wanda Lois Smith

March 29, 1932 — August 5, 2020

Wanda Lois Smith, 88, passed away in Angleton, Tx. On Wednesday, August 5, 2020 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Wanda was born on March 29, 1932 in Lexington, Tx, but moved a year later to Magnolia, Tx where she grew up. She married Robert Bowman (Bo) Smith (the love of her life) on February 25, 1950 after meeting him on the elevator she operated at the Eperson Building in Houston, Tx. They moved to Angleton on January 1, 1953 where they raised 3 children. You might have seen Wanda working at a local retail store after the children got older because She held jobs as a sales clerk at Beck's Fabrics, Delaney's Pharmacy, Mina's and Weiner's. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Angleton where she spent many years working in the 4 year old Sunday School class, and third grade G.A.'s. She was a member of The Angleton Danbury Hospital Auxiliary, and actively volunteered for 25 years. She also enjoyed serving by cooking or baking and was quick to make a dish or cake as soon as she heard of someone going through a crisis. You might have seen Wanda and Bo at the Lake Theater on Friday and Saturday nights where they were members of the Boosters, enjoying the good old fashioned singing that they loved. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bo Smith; parents, Vernon and Minnie Boswell; sister, Hellon Parker; brother Reuben Boswell; son Michael Smith; granddaughter, Gina Hettmansperger; and many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Ramsey of Angleton; son, Kenneth Smith and wife Cindy of Houston; grandchildren Shelly White of Angleton, Jessica Franks of Angleton, Laura Smith of Sweeny, Micah Hettmansperger of Richmond, and Stephen Pyron of Houston; and eight great-grandchildren.
