William F "Bill" Terrell Sr.

August 4, 1925 — August 4, 2020

William F. "Bill" Terrell Sr. passed away in the early hours of his 95th birthday on August 4, 2020. He was born in 1925 to William and Ovella Terrell of Kingsville, Texas. Bill served in the US Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater and returned to southeast Texas where he worked for Dow Chemical as a Machinist and retired at the age of 55. He liked to say that he was retired more years than he worked, but it's likely that he worked much harder during his retirement than he ever had while employed. As a longstanding member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, he could often be found building and rebuilding many types of general aviation aircraft in his garage, becoming a central figure in the local aviation enthusiast scene of Brazoria County. Headstrong with little time for "foolishness", he was always available to help, converse, or to declare for your benefit that things were going to be done his way. He was also driven by his faith throughout his life, expressed through his active membership of Northway Baptist Church in Angleton for many years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ovella and William, his twin sisters Lillian and Vivian, his son William "Billy" Terrell Jr., his first wife Ida Belle Taylor (ne Buckalew) and his second wife Norma Terrell (ne Page). He is survived by wife Betty Terrell, his son James E. Terrell and wife Karen, stepson Bruce Page and wife Diana. He has six grandchildren, Corey Terrell, Amy Terrell, Anitra Terrell, W. Shane Terrell, Brittany Page, Morgan Page, and six great grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Angleton Cemetery at 2PM on Saturday, August 8, 2020. Because of the ongoing pandemic, facial coverings must be worn while attending the service along with maintaining at least six feet of physical distance from others.
